The National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations has been updated in Belarus. The corresponding Resolution of the Ministry of Health No. 42 of May 17, 2018, has been published on the National Legal Internet Portal, BELTA reports.
The national vaccination calendar includes 11 vaccinations against viral hepatitis B, tuberculosis, pneumococcal infection, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b, measles, mumps, rubella, and poliomyelitis, influenza.
The document also approves a list of preventive vaccinations for epidemic indications, comprising 18 items.
Preventive vaccinations included in the national calendar are administered during specific periods of life, irrespective of the epidemiological situation, to create specific immunity of the body against the respective infectious diseases.
Epidemic indications include: contact with a patient suffering from (or suspected of having) an infectious disease; risk of infection with pathogens during professional activities; risk of infection in conditions of an unfavorable sanitary and epidemiological situation in Belarus or its individual administrative-territorial units, as well as in other countries; risk of infection with pathogens in case of possible introduction of infectious diseases into the territory of Belarus; presence of diseases (conditions) where infection with pathogens can lead to their complicated course or a fatal outcome.
Preventive vaccinations are carried out in state healthcare organizations, as well as in non-state healthcare organizations that have a special permit (license) for medical activities issued in the manner prescribed by law.
Information about the preventive vaccination is entered into the patient's medical records by the healthcare professional who administered it. If the patient refuses preventive vaccination, the attending physician must explain the possible consequences. The decision is documented in the patient's medical records and signed by the patient and the attending physician.
Preventive vaccinations are carried out taking into account indications and contraindications for their administration, in strict accordance with the instructions for medical use attached to the immunobiological medicinal product. Before carrying out a preventive vaccination, a medical specialist conducts a medical examination and records its results in medical documents. Within 30 minutes after the administration of the immunobiological medicinal product, patient observation is required.
The document enters into force upon publication. Previous resolutions of July 18, 2012 No. 106 and February 12, 2016 No. 25 are declared invalid.
