In 2011, 273 apartments (with a total area of 19,258 square meters) were built in the Lepel district, including 220 apartments for residents of the town and district who were on the waiting list for housing improvement. In addition, last year, individual developers completed the construction of private homestead-type houses with a total area of 5,579 square meters.
However, this year the average cost of one square meter of housing under construction in apartment buildings has increased to 5 million 600 thousand rubles, and the terms of crediting for housing construction have changed. Therefore, in order not to reduce the pace of housing construction in Lepel and the district, the issue of the possibility of building commercial housing in apartment buildings is being considered. It can even be carried out by those who are not on the waiting list for housing improvement but wish to ensure a higher quality of life and have the appropriate financial resources for it. Under these conditions, even foreign citizens have been granted the right to build commercial housing.
