Servicemen of the Polotsk Border Detachment have twice prevented attempts to illegally cross the Belarusian-Latvian border in three days, the assistant head of the Polotsk Border Detachment, Denis Glebko, told a BELTA correspondent. Thus, on the night of October 19, in the Verkhnedvinsk district, 200 meters from the State Border, two men born in 1975 and 1992 were detained, moving along the railway tracks in the direction of Verkhnedvinsk – Daugavpils. The detainees had bags with personal belongings, a map of Belarus from the USSR era, and a small amount of money. A couple of days later, on the night of October 20-21, in the Braslav district, two more State Border violators born in 1974 and 1977 were detained. The illegal immigrants had one goal – to find employment in one of the EU countries. All violators were brought to administrative responsibility, sentenced to fines, and expelled from the territory of Belarus. -0-
