The Lepel-Chashnitsa Interdistrict DOSAAF Unit, in conjunction with the staff of the Children's Creativity Center, organized open karting competitions. Fifty-two young athletes from eight cities of the republic gathered on Svaboda Square to determine who was the fastest in seven classes.
More than a hundred spectators gathered to support the young racers. Additional financial support was provided by sponsors – the "Zapasca" auto center and OJSC "Blelpelzabezpechenie," who purchased medals and cups for the winners and prize-winners.
The city track is one of the most challenging for racing – it is significantly smaller than a specialized karting track, although the asphalt quality is not inferior. This requires racers to make more complex turns and maneuvers. Additionally, the curbs separating the pedestrian paths pose a certain danger.
However, most of the racers are already familiar with the specifics of the "Lepel's Little Square," so all turns were completed smoothly, without accidents or major skids.
Although the Lepel participants were hosting guests on their track, they were unable to shine with victories for various reasons. Only Vadim Makhotin took second place in the "Cadet" class, and Sasha Pashkevich also took second place in the "Pilot" class. The Orsha team took first place, Mogilev took second, and the young racers from Dokshitsy came in third.
