11 September, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. In the Vitebsk region, it is planned to vaccinate almost every third resident of the region against influenza for the upcoming epidemic season, Vladimir Sinkevich, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, told a BELTA correspondent.
In total, at least 35% of the region's population and 40% of employees of enterprises and organizations will receive the flu vaccination. Part of the necessary vaccine, which has low reactogenicity and high immunogenicity, has already arrived. A total of 176 thousand doses of the vaccine will be supplied from the republican budget, and 188 thousand doses from the local budget. It is planned to vaccinate about 60 thousand people this year at the expense of funds from enterprises, organizations, and institutions. As before, citizens will be able to get vaccinated at polyclinics at their place of residence at their own expense.
The mass immunization campaign will begin in the region at the end of September and will last for two months. Preparations for its conduct have already been practically completed. Currently, explanatory work on the need for vaccination is being organized in healthcare organizations. Thematic presentations by medical workers are also being held at enterprises in the region to achieve wider immunization coverage of their employees. "In the past season, the immunization campaign conducted in the Vitebsk region alone saved Br360 billion, which clearly demonstrates the effectiveness and efficiency of this flu prevention measure," added Vladimir Sinkevich.-0-
