Housing construction is a serious problem for the Vitebsk region, stated the Chairman of the Committee of State Control of Belarus, Alexander Yakobson, today at a meeting with the work collective of OJSC "Novolukoml Keramzit Gravel Plant", a BELTA correspondent reports. The pace of housing construction in the Vitebsk region over the nine months of the current year is the lowest in the republic. Only 300 thousand sq.m of housing have been commissioned, while in the Brest region - 700 thousand sq.m. According to the head of the control department, the problem is not only in the lack of funding, but also in the weak capacities of construction industry enterprises, as well as in the personnel provision of the sector. According to Alexander Yakobson, the problem requires comprehensive consideration, and enterprises such as the Novolukoml Keramzit Gravel Plant, which are mastering the production of new building materials and implementing technologies that contribute to their cost reduction, will largely contribute to its solution. -0-
