21 November, Grodno /Elena Stasyukevich - BELTA/. Keys to new service housing were received today by over 80 families of servicemen of the Grodno garrison, BELTA correspondent reports.
An 83-apartment service housing building for military personnel has been commissioned in Grodno. The modern multi-story building has sprung up next to a similar new building, which was erected for the military about a year ago. Construction was carried out in accordance with the state program for providing housing for military personnel.
According to the Commander of the Western Operational Command, Major General Sergey Potapenko, the housing issue in the Grodno garrison is planned to be resolved within one to two years through the construction of both service and cooperative housing. A month ago, a new 98-apartment cooperative building was commissioned for the military, which included the relocation of about 30 families from a service multi-story building, freeing up apartments for others. The commissioning of the 83-apartment service building today has made it possible to completely vacate the dormitory, which will be occupied by other servicemen of the Grodno garrison. Upon receiving service housing, a new resident has the right to be on the waiting list for cooperative construction, the interlocutor emphasized.
As Sergey Potapenko noted, over the last incomplete two years, the need of servicemen in the Grodno garrison for improved housing conditions has decreased by 2 times. Currently, about 300 families are on the waiting list, almost 100 of them will become members of an already established housing construction cooperative. -0-
