"We have released a unique publication for the congress – the book "Scientists Who Brought Fame to Belarus". It features over 150 prominent scientists. The book will be presented during the II Congress of Scientists of Belarus and, I hope, will be noticed by the public," said Sergey Chizhik.
Approximately 2.6 thousand people will participate in the congress, including about 500 foreign guests. On the first day of the forum, delegates and invited guests will work in 9 sections dedicated to the main directions of scientific development and international cooperation. The sections will operate within the organisations of the National Academy of Sciences and other ministries and departments. Each section will host its own thematic exhibition. During the plenary session on December 13, a consolidated interdepartmental exhibition will be opened, comprising 8 clusters related to the most important tasks of Belarusian science, corresponding to global technology development trends (IT sector, artificial intelligence, electric transport, drones, chemical technologies, biotechnology, etc.).
The key document to be presented at the II Congress of Scientists of Belarus will be the draft strategy "Science and Technology: 2018-2040". The draft is currently undergoing public discussion.
The congress will be the concluding event of the Year of Science. The forum will identify the main and most relevant long-term tasks and directions for the development of the scientific sphere, including the expansion of international scientific and technical cooperation and the integration of domestic science into the global scientific space. It will also develop a concept for the country's long-term scientific and innovation security, a general strategy for the development and enhancement of the role of domestic science in the economy, its interaction with the real sector, the formation of an effective national innovation system, and the progressive implementation of the knowledge economy model in Belarus.
