On November 19, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. "Book Bridges" will connect Vitebsk and Pskov, said Tatyana Adamyon, Deputy Director of the V. Lenin Vitebsk Regional Library, to a BELTA correspondent. The joint project "Book Bridges" is being implemented by the V. Lenin Vitebsk Regional Library and the Pskov Regional Universal Scientific Library in accordance with the cooperation agreement signed by the institutions in 2010 for the purpose of mutual cultural enrichment, development of interstate information space, and promotion of professional development of partner librarians. A delegation from the border Russian region will visit Vitebsk from November 20-22. "Their visit is one of the events of the 'Book Bridges' project and the most important November event for Vitebsk librarians," noted Tatyana Adamyon. The busy schedule of the Pskov delegation's stay includes familiarisation with the most important cultural sites of Vitebsk, the organisation of work of the city's libraries, and participation in a round table discussion "Modern Libraries: Facets of Cooperation". The latter event is of particular interest to both sides, as it will allow colleagues to discuss innovations in librarianship, share their achievements, discuss current problems and issues, and develop an interaction plan for 2013. In addition, a bio-bibliographic index of the renowned Belarusian playwright Aleksey Dudarev will be presented to the Pskov librarians. The publication includes references to over 1,000 sources related to the life and work of this author. Tatyana Adamyon emphasised the significance of cooperation between the Vitebsk and Pskov libraries. "We have developed a well-coordinated system for mutual experience exchange in the library and information sphere, various areas of cultural activities, including the development of joint targeted and other programmes and projects aimed at developing the cultural, informational, and educational potential of our regions. Joint events in the fields of librarianship, bibliography, and book studies are regularly held. Discussing issues of mutual interest enhances the professional level of library specialists and contributes to attracting readers," she noted. -0-
