Kachanova and school principals discussed distance learning and other current education issues online

June 8, Minsk /BELTA/. The Association of Heads of Educational Institutions held an online meeting in the Council of the Republic. Together with the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, school principals discussed the creation of a unified distance learning platform, expanding interaction with families, and other pressing issues of the education system, BELTA correspondent reports.

Natalya Kochanova recalled that the main directions in the development of education were clearly defined by the Republican Pedagogical Council, which the President attended in 2017. "It is important for us today to see how the instructions are being fulfilled, what the situation is in the country's educational institutions, how the fourth academic quarter went, which coincided with a challenging epidemiological period. The issues put forward for discussion are very relevant," said the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic.

The speaker expressed confidence that the conversation would be useful and contribute to "making absolutely correct and well-thought-out decisions in the future, if necessary, for the benefit of the development of the education system."

During the video conference, the use of information and communication technologies in education was discussed. The discussion primarily focused on a unified distance learning platform, the development of which is currently underway. "Active work is in progress. Materials from leading educators and methodologists are being collected. Schools are providing their materials for this platform. All this is being accumulated," Marina Ilyina, a member of the Council of the Republic, director of the capital's Gymnasium No. 10, and chairperson of the Council of the Association of Heads of Educational Institutions, told reporters. According to her, the portal is being created using advanced technologies. It will become a platform where children can receive competent answers to questions from the school curriculum. "I believe it will be a very respectable platform where quality education can be received remotely. We will do everything possible to ensure the platform is operational by the end of the year," the senator emphasized.

Furthermore, during the video conference, the association addressed the issue of schoolchildren's information security. The possibility of adopting a state program aimed at forming a positive image of teachers, their professional development, financial support, etc., was also considered. Additionally, educators discussed modern approaches to working with families. In particular, a proposal was voiced to create a series of TV programs for parents on various issues related to education.

The video conference was attended by staff of the Academy of Postgraduate Education, coordinators of the Belarusian Pedagogical Society, members of the Association of Heads of Educational Institutions, and principals of Belarusian schools and gymnasiums.

The Association of Heads of Educational Institutions was established within the structure of the Belarusian Pedagogical Society in 2013. Among its objectives are the improvement of state educational policy, the legislative framework in the field of education, and the identification and dissemination of effective experience in the management of educational institutions.
