February 8, Minsk /BELTA/. Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Nasirdzhan Yusupov on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in our country, BELTA correspondent reports.
"I would like to note with great satisfaction that the relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan are developing quite fruitfully. I am very pleased to note that during your tenure, our relations at the high and highest levels have intensified. The good, trusting relations between our presidents, of course, give us the opportunity to cooperate fruitfully in all areas. It is important that we opened the Embassy of Uzbekistan in our country. Trade and economic relations, cultural relations, and relations in the sphere of education are developing. The I Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan was held, and we hope that this tradition will be continued," said Natalya Kochanova.
The Speaker emphasized that good inter-parliamentary ties have also been established between the countries.
"A youth council has been established under the Council of the Republic, and our young people were the first to cooperate specifically with the youth of Uzbekistan. I think this is a landmark event. Because when young people interact, we will have serious prospects," she said. "I am sure that you are leaving with the warmest memories of our country and people. I want to wish you success and thank you for such good, fruitful cooperation."
The Ambassador noted that he is satisfied with the results of his activities in Belarus.
"Perhaps not everything planned has been accomplished, but the main things have been done. Our overall indicators also speak to this. There is economic growth. The number of Belarusian enterprises in Uzbekistan and Uzbek enterprises here has significantly increased. Trade turnover has grown, investments have started coming in. The number of students from Uzbekistan studying here has significantly increased. For the first time, we managed to hold the Forum of Regions and the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan at a very high level. Many delegations from Belarus have visited Uzbekistan. Very good contacts have been established between ministries, departments, and regions. Of course, the pandemic has made its adjustments. But overall, a very good foundation has been laid. And I am confident that in the coming period, all this will yield results, and by joining forces both within the CIS and within bilateral relations, we will achieve significantly more and better for our peoples. This is without a doubt," he emphasized.
Nasirdzhan Yusupov stated that he is proud to be the first Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus. "Regarding my personal impressions of Belarus and the Belarusian people, I have spent the best years here. This country has become as dear to me as Uzbekistan. I have acquired a second homeland here. There are wonderful people here, very friendly, warm relationships. I will never forget this. Representing the interests of my state in such a wonderful country is a great honor for me. I say this with genuine sincerity. And in the future, I will make every effort to ensure that these relations continue to develop. We need each other," he concluded.
