Meetings with work collectives provide an opportunity to realistically assess the situation on the ground. This was stated to journalists by the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, who met today with employees of the Slodych confectionery factory, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
During the events of the unified information day, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic spoke about the main traditions of sovereign Belarus. Natalya Kochanova also informed the work collective of the confectionery factory about the most pressing issues of the country's socio-economic development, paying special attention to employment issues, the correlation between wage growth and labour productivity, and price controls. In addition, the discussion covered youth policy, support for large families, and demographic security. The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic answered questions from the enterprise's employees concerning the construction of rental housing and the development of the education system.
Senior officials, heads of local authorities, enterprises, and organisations regularly hold meetings with work collectives and personal receptions of citizens. "This is an effective form of communication with people, when you not only meet with representatives of the work collective but also see how the enterprise operates, how the set targets are met, how social issues are resolved within the collective, what the working conditions and wages are like, and how the management works," noted Natalya Kochanova. This form of work has proven itself and will gain momentum. When people are informed, they have fewer questions, added the speaker.
Each month, a new topic is chosen for meetings with work collectives. The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic noted that, in addition to this, she usually talks about key issues of the country's socio-economic development, tasks set by the head of state, and also answers questions. "It is always interesting to hear what questions the employees of a particular enterprise have. It varies, but usually it concerns housing construction, education, and healthcare. These are issues that affect every person in our country," Natalya Kochanova summed up.
Before meeting with the work collective, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic visited the workshops of the confectionery factory and familiarised herself with the enterprise's operations. In 2019, its export volume exceeded $1.5 million. Almost 530 people work here, and over 100 types of products are manufactured.
