The presidential election will be a key event in the political life of Belarus in 2020. This was stated today by the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, during the opening of the spring session of the Council of the Republic, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"The presidential election will be a key event in the political life of the country, as we are choosing the future of our country. This is a responsible period for all government bodies, and we need to take an active part in the preparation and conduct of this important political campaign," she said.
The Speaker emphasized that "the elections must be held at a high organizational level, in full compliance with the Constitution and the current electoral legislation."
Natalya Kochanova noted that 2020 is marked by a number of significant events. "We are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory – a holiday that has become a symbol of freedom and independence, dear to every Belarusian family. Preserving the historical memory of the war, caring for veterans, and patriotic education of youth are the most important areas of work for the members of the Council of the Republic, which need to be developed and filled with new projects," she said.
