On its birthday, 21 November, the Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theatre will present the premiere of the play "My Wife is a Liar" based on the play of the same name by American playwright Margaret Mayo, the theatre informed BELTA.
For the premiere, the theatre has chosen literary material of strong calibre. Margaret Mayo's comedies are over a hundred years old. She herself is a legend of American stage art. Mayo tried her hand at the roles of actress, playwright, director, and producer. For Europe, "My Wife is a Liar" was adapted by French playwright Maurice Hennequin.
"The comedy tells a story that could happen in any family. If you lie just once, one lie, even an innocent one, can draw you into an incredible whirlwind of interconnected events, from which it is difficult to find a worthy way out. Don't go to a restaurant with someone else's wife, or problems will arise. They arose in the family of William and Catty. But the deeper reason for the quarrels is different – Catty and William have no children. After another deception and a big scandal, the husband leaves home. To win back her beloved, Catty decides on a grand deception suggested by her friend," the theatre noted.
