The number of applications to the Economic Court of the Vitebsk Region increased by 56% in the first quarter to 4.1 thousand, Olga Kibisova, Head of the Judicial Practice Department of the Economic Court of the Vitebsk Region, told a BELTA correspondent. In 247 cases of claim proceedings (80.5% of those considered under the conciliation procedure), agreements were reached and conciliation agreements were signed between the parties. "The concluded conciliation agreements allowed the parties not only to save money but also to overcome the conflict while maintaining the possibility of joint cooperation," noted Olga Kibisova, adding that the potential of the conciliation procedure was also in demand at the enforcement stage: 2 enforcement proceedings were transferred to the conciliation procedure, under which settlement agreements were concluded on terms of deferred payment. Using videoconferencing, first-instance judges held 55 court hearings, which allowed business entities to save money on business trip expenses, and their representatives – working time. Business entities continue to effectively recover debts using the order production institute: in January-March, the court received about 3.1 thousand applications for the initiation of order production, which is 2.7 times more than in the same period of 2011 (1121). The work of the enforcement department of the economic court is characterised by the following figures: 3.1 thousand enforcement proceedings were initiated, which is 43% more than the corresponding level of last year. 3,101 proceedings were executed, which is 42% more than in January-March 2011. 32 auctions were appointed, of which 9 were successful.
