10 April, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A decrease in cases of severe injuries and fatalities at work has been noted in the Vitebsk region based on the results of the first quarter, reported the First Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the State Labour Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Sergey Anufriev, to a BELTA correspondent. In January-March, 5 fatal accidents at work and 21 cases of severe injuries were registered in the region, which is 16.6% and 27.6% less, respectively, than the same period last year. Fatal accidents occurred in Vitebsk, Liozno, Postavy (1 each) and Chashniki (2) districts. Cases of severe injuries were registered in Braslav, Verkhnedvinsk, Senno, Tolochin districts, Orsha, Novopolotsk and other districts. Despite the overall positive trend in the region, an increase in fatal injuries is noted in Liozno, Postavy, Chashniki districts, and severe injuries in Braslav, Senno, Tolochin districts, Orsha, and Vitebsk. The main cause of most accidents is the low level of labour and performance discipline of employees, managers, and specialists, noted Sergey Anufriev, emphasizing that, taking this into account, state inspectors of the Vitebsk Regional Department have continued to monitor labour discipline. In January-March, inspections of compliance with labour discipline and the organisation of access control were carried out in 156 organisations, including 109 of non-state ownership. Corresponding violations at these enterprises were committed by 1.3 thousand employees. 1.1 thousand people were brought to disciplinary action for this, of which 126 were reprimanded, 463 were given warnings, and 486 were dismissed.
