The international folk music festival "Zvinyats' tsymbaly i harmonik" will be held from June 7-9 in Postavy, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Postavy District Executive Committee.
The forum, celebrating its 30th anniversary, will bring together creative groups and individual performers from seven countries: Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, and Georgia. All festival events this year will be held under the auspices of the celebration of the 610th anniversary of Postavy and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
On the first day, an exhibition dedicated to the festival's anniversary will open, and a literary and musical celebration "And the word of fellow countrymen will sound over the native land" will take place. Sports competitions are planned at the city stadium, and a two-day scientific and practical conference "Postavshchyna in the dimension of time" will begin at the district executive committee. In the evening, guests of the celebration will enjoy a performance by the G.I. Tsitovich National Academic Folk Choir of Belarus.
The subsequent festival days are even more eventful. The competition of folk instrument ensembles and soloists "Who is who?", a folk crafts fair, a review competition of rural homesteads "Hospitable Postavshchyna", an exhibition at the local history museum "Wonders of Postavshchyna", and a theatrical performance "Music of Belarusian Palaces and Estates" are planned for June 8. Bright moments of this day will also include the grand opening of the festival "Happy Anniversary, Native City!", the "Postavy Ball", a fire show, and fireworks. The programme will conclude on June 9 with a theatrical procession and a gala concert of the festival participants.
The events will take place at ten concert and exhibition venues in the city, as well as in large agro-towns.
"For the celebration, the main square of the district centre and the summer amphitheatre in the city park have been renovated, and the city has been adorned with numerous flowerbeds and new green spaces. A district competition of creative works "Postavy 610. Ideas Transforming Postavy" was also held. Its winners will be honoured at the festival," the district executive committee added.
