The Chinese market is becoming increasingly promising for Belarusian manufacturers. The Vitebsk region is no exception. Imports into the Middle Kingdom are gaining momentum. Valentina Glebko, Head of the Foreign Economic Activity Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee, provides the figures:

– In the first 10 months of the current year alone, the total volume of exports of products from the region's enterprises to the Chinese market reached 45.6 million dollars. This is an increase of 1.8 times compared to the same period last year. Our food products and agricultural raw materials are in particular demand in the PRC. In these categories alone, our enterprises earned 21 million dollars. By the way, the share of food products in the region's exports to China is substantial – 46.1 percent.

Which industrialists maintain the closest ties with Chinese partners? The Vitebsk Oil Extraction Plant shipped 2.7 thousand tons of rapeseed oil. The Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm supplied 2.4 thousand tons of poultry meat, the Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory – over 2.7 thousand tons of whey, the Polotsk Dairy Plant – almost 600 tons of milk powder. The Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant and the Glubokoye Condensed Milk Plant also actively sent their products. Orekhovo Flax Mill sold nearly 100 tons of flax fibre to the PRC, and Dubrovno Flax Mill – almost 240 tons. "BelFood Production" LLC exported 30.2 tons of baby food. The Vitebsk Distillery shipped over 34 tons of 100% alcohol to this country. "Vitba" Confectionery Combine – almost 325 tons of confectionery products.
The Economy Committee noted that, in addition to food products, our lubricant additives, woodworking products, fiberglass, fittings, and linen fabrics are in high demand in the PRC.
