Valentina Glebko, Head of the Foreign Economic Activity Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee, emphasizes:
– Despite sanctions, trade turnover is growing. Since the beginning of the current year, exports from the Vitebsk region have increased 1.7-fold. This positive trend is largely facilitated by the intensification of international cooperation by our industry, the expansion of supply geography, and joint projects with foreign partners. This applies not only to Russian regions but also to other countries. For instance, in October, a delegation from the region, led by Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, visited Uzbekistan. A Cooperation Agreement in economic, scientific, technical, cultural, and humanitarian spheres was signed with the Khokimiyat of the Kashkadarya region.
It is noteworthy that many enterprises of the Vitebsk region have begun to pay special attention to Uzbekistan. They already have established relationships with local business partners and are developing mutually beneficial programmes for their expansion and deepening. Economic ties are also strengthening with Russian regions that were not previously on the map of contacts. Cooperation with distant Volgograd and neighbouring Pskov Oblast is becoming closer and more comprehensive, as noted by the regional Economy Committee. Incidentally, Vitebsk will soon host numerous participants of the Pskov Oblast Days on its territory.
