At the 31st extraordinary session of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, a decision was made on a regional set of measures for the implementation of the state program "Roads of Belarus" for 2021-2025.

"When this program was discussed, we submitted our proposals, in particular, regarding the financing of repairs and the improvement of roads in the Vitebsk region. This year, it is planned to increase the volume of funds for road repair work, and the total amount allocated for these purposes will exceed Br5 million. Funding will come from both the republican and regional budgets," noted Alexander Shidlovsky.

He added that the length of roads in the Vitebsk region is over 15,000 km. Of these, 7,000 km have a gravel surface. "Such a road density does not allow us to reach every settlement and carry out high-quality repairs on time. However, the task for the current five-year period is to carry out road repair work using new technologies, which will significantly improve quality and extend the service life of the road surface," emphasized the Chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Construction.

From 2021 to 2025, it is planned to repair about 1,300 km of local roads and reconstruct eight road structures. At least 25 km of roads will be repaired using modern technologies and materials. The construction of a bypass road around Polotsk will also be carried out in the Vitebsk region, involving local construction organizations.
