Farms in the Vitebsk region have begun large-scale fodder harvesting. A total of 240 thousand hectares of grass need to be harvested.
As reported by Mikhail Pridibaylo, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee, 511 forage harvesters, 974 mowers, 600 balers, and over 520 rakes, including 152 with a working width of six meters or more, will be involved in the first cut. An important element in harvesting high-quality fodder is the operation of combined balers with stretch film wrapping of bales. 62 such units will be deployed to the fields. A seasonal production rate of 5 thousand tons has been set for each. The task for the stall period is to harvest 300 thousand tons of high-quality fodder wrapped in stretch film.
