According to the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, over 4 months of 2021, 7 workers died at work and 21 received serious injuries. The vast majority of fatalities resulting from workplace injuries are linked to the personal carelessness of the workers themselves and their violation of labour and production discipline. There are instances of violations of job descriptions and regulatory legal acts on labour protection that have led to severe consequences.
Holding "Zero Trauma" Weeks in organisations is an additional measure to daily labour protection work and one of the effective ways to monitor compliance with labour protection legislation.
The period for conducting "Zero Trauma" events has been determined for each region and is scheduled from 7 June to 21 November.
The International Social Security Association (ISSA) developed the Vision Zero Concept ("Zero Trauma" Concept).
The "Zero Trauma" Concept is based on the recognition that workplace accidents and occupational diseases are not inevitable – they always have causes. Therefore, developing an effective prevention culture allows them to be avoided.
The aim of the "Zero Trauma" Week is to organise events to ensure the safety and health of workers in the workplace, and to prevent workplace injuries (preventing any injury incidents in organisations during this period) by promptly identifying violations of labour protection standards and applying measures to eliminate them.
