“Despite the challenging epidemiological situation, we have managed to maintain stability in the labour market,” noted Alexander Khristoforov, Chairman of the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The meeting was attended by Boris Efremov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Oleg Tokun, Head of the Employment Policy Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus, and Alexander Kaminsky, Head of the Budgetary and Financial Sector Control Department of the Regional Committee for State Control.

Deputies of the Chairmen of District Executive Committees, heads of Labour and Employment Departments, heads of Territorial Centres for Social Services to the Population (TCSO) and stationary social service institutions participated online.

“The positive trend in wage growth and its timely payment should also be noted,” said Alexander Khristoforov.

“This is also influenced by the positive dynamics in economic sectors, the effective implementation of the state programme and the coordination of the Ministry of Labour, as well as additional measures to reduce market tensions and the work of the commission for promoting employment of the population. All this allows us to reduce the number of registered unemployed.”

According to the results of the first nine months of the current year, over 5,000 people, which is 70% of the unemployed who applied to the employment service, have been employed.

The priority directions of employment policy in the current year are stimulating the economic activity of the population, involving economically inactive people in labour activities, and ensuring a balance between supply and demand in the labour market. The growth rate of the employed population has been achieved only in Miory and Tolochin districts, noted Alesya Ivanova, Head of the Population Employment Department of the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee.

As of 1 November 2021, 1,212 unemployed people were registered, which is almost 20% less than on 1 November 2020.

The decrease in the number of registered unemployed is due to an increase in demand from employers.

As of 1 November, over 9,000 vacancies were declared, which is 38.4% more than on 1 November 2020.

There is a continued demand for skilled personnel in the labour market.

The largest number of vacant jobs are declared by enterprises of the manufacturing industry – 18.9% of the total number (including organisations for the production of textiles, clothing, leather and fur products – 5.8%), agriculture, forestry and fishing – 17.5%, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 10.7%, transport activities, warehousing, postal and courier activities – 9.2%, healthcare and social services – 9%, construction – 7.3%, education – 6.5%.

The most in-demand professions among employers at present are: seamstress, car driver, woodcutter, bricklayer, tile layer, cook, carpenter, salesperson, shoe assembler, turner, milling machine operator, electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment. Among specialists and employees, accountants, engineers, nurses, and doctors are in constant demand. In rural areas, tractor drivers, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, veterinarians, agronomists, paramedics, and foresters are in demand.

With a salary of 1 thousand rubles, there are over 1.5 thousand offers in the database.
