In the Vitebsk region, approximately Br2.3 million will be allocated from the regional budget to strengthen the material and technical base and prepare all types of boarding schools for the heating season, as reported by Nina Kolymaga, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The main part of the work has been completed to date. In particular, repairs to the interior of residential buildings, water supply, sewerage, heating and electrical networks have been completed, buildings have been insulated, readiness certificates for the heating season have been obtained, and necessary equipment, including for catering units, has been purchased.
"In addition to improving living conditions, we have also taken care of purchasing seasonal clothing for residents of social institutions. Over Br262 thousand has been allocated for the purchase of jackets, hats, socks, underwear, and shoes," noted Nina Kolymaga.
She pointed out that preparation for the inter-seasonal period also includes creating own stocks of fruit and vegetable products, and ensuring supplies of meat and milk through the operation of own subsidiary farms, which are available at each boarding school. Fresh vegetables are grown in greenhouses donated by sponsors. Where opportunities permit, cattle, sheep, and poultry are kept. Boarding schools sell surplus agricultural products at fairs.
