Typically, November and December are the months when employees and employers begin planning annual leave for the next calendar year. In doing so, it is important for employees to consider not only their personal interests, and for employers – production interests, but also the requirements of the legislation.

Leave Schedule:

– is drawn up no later than January 5 (or another deadline established by a collective agreement, accord, or agreed upon by the employer with the trade union);

– establishes the order of granting annual leave for all employees of the organisation;

– is drawn up for the calendar year in organisations of any form of ownership on a mandatory basis;

– is approved by the employer and, if required by the collective agreement, is coordinated with the trade union;

– is brought to the attention of all employees.

When drawing up the annual leave schedule, the employer must take into account:

– the employee's opinion on the timing of their leave;

– the obligation to schedule leave for certain categories of employees at their request during the summer or other convenient time, or within a specified period;

– the need to grant annual leave every year during the working year.

For reference:

Failure by an employer's official to comply with the established procedure for granting leave to employees entails a fine of two to twenty basic units (Part 6 of Article 10.12 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus)
