As of 1 January 2022, 1.1 thousand people were registered as unemployed in the Vitebsk region, which is 20 percent less than on 1 January 2021 (1.3 thousand people).
The registered unemployment rate as of 1 January 2022 was 0.2 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points compared to 1 January 2021.
In January – December 2021, 20.1 thousand people applied to the employment service for assistance in finding employment (2.4 percent less than in January - December 2020), of whom 9.4 thousand people were registered as unemployed (9 percent less).
Within the framework of the State Programme "Labour Market and Employment Promotion" for 2021 – 2025, in January – December 2021:
- 15.8 thousand people were employed in permanent jobs;
- 464 people were directed to training in professions in demand on the labour market;
- 111 unemployed individuals received subsidies to start their own businesses;
- 3042 people participated in paid public works;
- temporary employment was provided to 4217 people from among students during their free time;
- 26 unemployed individuals were employed as part of gaining practical work experience;
- adaptation to work activities was organised for 49 disabled individuals;
- 29 families of unemployed individuals were relocated to a new place of residence and work.
