Since the beginning of the current year, 27 road traffic accidents involving minors have occurred on the roads of the Vitebsk region, resulting in the deaths of 2 teenagers and injuries to 25 minors. In this regard, on September 20, 2022, a set of preventive measures titled "We Remember, We Know, We Comply!" is being carried out in the Vitebsk region.

In this regard, on September 20, 2022, a set of preventive measures titled "We Remember, We Know, We Comply!" is being carried out in the Vitebsk region.

The problem of child road traffic injuries becomes particularly relevant during holidays. Children have a lot of free time, most of which they spend outdoors. Young road users, due to their age, do not understand the full extent of the danger on the road. In autumn, road safety is exacerbated by increased slipperiness of the roadway, early dusk, and difficult weather conditions. Children often choose places close to the road for games and entertainment. They exhibit carelessness when stepping onto the road, or crossing the roadway while engrossed in their mobile phones, with their hoods up, or listening to music with headphones on.

This is why parental control and timely guidance on safe behaviour rules are important. Dear parents! It is very important to talk to your children and remind them to be cautious on winter roads.

It is worth reminding once again that the transportation of children in a passenger car equipped with seat belts must be carried out using:

  • child restraint systems that correspond to the child's weight and height – for children aged up to 5 years;
  • child restraint systems that correspond to the child's weight and height, or other devices (booster seats, special seat cushions, additional seats) that allow the child to be safely fastened using the seat belts provided by the vehicle's design – for children aged from 5 to 12 years.

Children under 12 years of age may be transported without special devices if their height exceeds 150 cm, as well as in taxis.
