The Vitebsk Regional Children and Youth Folklore Art Review and Competition "Ad prashchurau da zor" will bring together about 370 participants in Rossony on March 2, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Methodological Centre of Folk Art (VOMCNT).

A competent jury will determine the best participants in the competition of musical instrumental ensembles (traditional composition), the review of children's and youth folklore groups, and the tournament of couples – performers of folk social dances (to be held in three age categories: 3-6 years, 7-10 years, 11-16 years), and the decorative and applied arts competition and exhibition. The latter will feature works made exclusively in traditional forms of art, including "vytinanka" (paper cutting), protective dolls, belts, wood carving, embroidery, straw weaving, and patchwork. Nominations such as "Creative Debut," "The Group that Best Represents Regional Folk Traditions," and "Audience Choice Award" have also been established.
The winners will have the right to represent the region at the national folklore art festival "Berahinya," which will take place in June in the settlement of Oktyabrsky, Gomel Region.
The "Ad prashchurau da zor" review and competition has been held in the Vitebsk Region since 2004. "Every year, the number of participants grows, and new children's folklore groups emerge, popularising local traditions and rituals, demonstrating a high artistic level of performance and knowledge of the specific foundations of Vitebsk Region's folklore art," the centre noted.
