The "Person of the Year in Culture" competition has been announced in Belarus

12 August, Minsk /BELTA/. The Ministry of Culture of Belarus has announced the "Person of the Year in Culture" competition, BELTA reports.

The instructions on the procedure for conducting the competition are posted on the official website of the department.

The competition is held until February 10, 2017, in the following nominations: "Fine Arts", "Theatre Arts", "Musical Arts", "Choreographic Arts", "Pop Arts", "Circus Arts", "Film and Video Arts", "Museum Activities", "Library Activities", "Club Activities", "Folk Art", "Folk Decorative and Applied Arts", "Pedagogical Activities with Creative Youth", "Coverage of Cultural Issues in Mass Media".

Citizens of Belarus who are employees in the cultural sector, educators of educational institutions in the cultural sphere, media employees (in the nomination "Coverage of Cultural Issues in Mass Media"), and members of creative unions can participate in the competition.

The criteria for evaluating participants in the nominations "Fine Arts", "Theatre Arts", "Musical Arts", "Choreographic Arts", "Pop Arts", "Circus Arts", and "Film and Video Arts" include the artistic level of the results of the participant's creative activities during the competition period; their public display during the year, the social and economic effect achieved; the public resonance of the results of their activities, including successes in international competitions and press reviews; and the professional and moral qualities of the participants.

For the nominations "Museum Activities", "Library Activities", and "Club Activities", the criteria are professional skill, achievements, and innovation; new significant events held in 2016; and participation in international and republican forums.

The criteria for the nominations "Folk Art" and "Folk Decorative and Applied Arts" include the artistic level and public resonance of the participant's activities during the competition period; the original use of national artistic traditions; the significance of the cultural projects implemented in terms of reviving, preserving traditions, and developing modern directions of artistic creativity; and participation in international and republican competitions and festivals in 2016.

The "Pedagogical Activity with Gifted Youth" nomination considers the application of effective forms of work to support talented youth; the effectiveness of work in preparing winners of international competitions and olympiads; the level of professional skill and achievements of pedagogical workers; the relevance and compliance of pedagogical experience with modern trends in the development of education.

For the "Coverage of Cultural Issues in Mass Media" nomination, public recognition, relevance, and popularity of the author's publications on the cultural life of the country; the completeness and versatility of coverage of cultural events; and the skill of presenting material are important.

The nomination of candidates for the competition is proposed to be carried out from January 2 to January 15, 2017, with the deadline for submitting applications to the Ministry of Culture set for January 25. The jury will announce the competition results from February 1 to February 10.

Winners of the competition will be awarded special diplomas and cash prizes of 25 base units at a formal ceremony.

The organizers of the competition are the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Information of Belarus, regional executive committees, the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Belarusian Confederation of Creative Unions, and the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.-0-
