23 August, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The contest for a deputy seat from the Vitebsk region will feature over three candidates per seat. The region has completed the registration of candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the fifth convocation, and elections in all 14 constituencies will be held on an alternative basis, the deputy head of the organisational and personnel work department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Leonid Dorofeyenko, informed a BELTA correspondent.
At the meetings of the constituency election commissions, which were held universally in the region on 22 August, registration certificates were issued to 48 candidates out of 61 applicants. Of the registered candidates, 28 citizens are representatives of political parties: 11 members will contest the elections from the Liberal Democratic Party; five from the Belarusian Left Party "A Just World"; three from the United Civic Party; four from the BPF Party; three from the Republican Party of Labour and Justice; and one each from the Communist Party of Belarus and the Belarusian Social Democratic Party "Hramada".
The main reason for refusal of registration was the indication of unreliable information in income declarations; there were also refusals due to violations concerning signature sheets.
The campaign will start today and will last until 22 September inclusive.-0-
