20 April, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Approximately Br8.5 billion has been allocated from the city budget for the continuation of reconstruction works on the concert hall "Vitebsk", the second most important concert venue of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival after the Summer Amphitheatre. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the "Vitebsk" Culture Centre, which manages the concert hall.
The reconstruction of the building, constructed in 1988 with a total area of 114.5 thousand sq.m., began in December 2010 by decision of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee. For the jubilee XX International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", the 1050-seat auditorium was renovated with new seating, its interior was modernised, and necessary preparatory work for the installation of concert lighting equipment was carried out. However, due to insufficient funding, some of the planned works had to be postponed.
Currently, the utilisation of funds allocated from the city budget for the continuation of works and the completion of the main works of the first stage of reconstruction has begun. These are expected to be completed by the upcoming festival. -0-
