June 18, Volgodonsk / Tatyana Ivanyuk - BELTA/. The Volgodonsk branch of JSC "AEM-technologies" intends to deliver the reactor vessel for the first power unit of the Belarusian NPP under construction in the autumn of 2015. The production director of the "Atomash" branch, Vitaly Shishov, announced this to journalists today, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"We have been tasked with delivering the first reactor vessel to the Belarusian NPP in the autumn of 2015," said the production director. Currently, the reactor vessel components are in the final stage of production. "Quality plans have been agreed upon to date, all principal technical solutions have been implemented. There are no manufacturing issues," stated Vitaly Shishov.

The production director of the "Atomash" branch noted that the Belarusian NPP site, where two power units are being constructed simultaneously, is one of the most active construction sites among nuclear power plants. He emphasized that the supply contracts are structured in such a way that the interval between the installation of nuclear island equipment (including reactor vessels, steam generators) at the two power units is very short – about a year.

In November 2013, concrete pouring for the foundations of the first power unit of the Belarusian NPP began at the site near Ostrovets. The plant will consist of two power units with a total capacity of up to 2400 (2x1200) MW. The "NPP-2006" project has been selected for its construction, which fully complies with international norms and IAEA recommendations. The general designer and general contractor is the unified Russian company JSC "NIAEP" - CJSC "ASE". The project implementation timelines are reflected in the general contract, which provides for the commissioning of the first power unit of the plant in November 2018. -0-
