Cosmonauts from 17 countries will meet with Belarusian schoolchildren and students today, BELTA was informed by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The Community Day is scheduled as part of the XXXI International Congress of the Association of Space Explorers on September 12. Cosmonauts will visit Belarusian schools, universities (BSU, BNTU, BSUIR, BSMU), enterprises, institutes of the National Academy of Sciences, the Minsk Suvorov Military School, the Military Academy, and the Belarusian State Academy of Aviation. Schoolchildren will come from the regions to meet with the cosmonauts. Space researchers will talk about flights and answer questions. The aim of the events is to popularise space, and to increase interest in and prestige of this profession.
The XXXI International Congress of the Association of Space Explorers is being held in Minsk from September 9 to 15. More than 80 cosmonauts from 17 countries are participating. The theme of the congress is "We are creating the space future".
The Association of Space Explorers is an international non-profit organisation uniting cosmonauts from many countries, established in 1985 to share experience in the field of manned space flights. The ASE International Congress brings together cosmonauts annually, as well as representatives of research institutions and national space agencies.
