30 August, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. The regional festival-competition of patchwork "Zdravnevo Palette - 2013" will be held in Vitebsk from 3 September to 1 October, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the city executive committee.

The competition, held in a biennial format, has been named "Colours of Autumn" this year. Creative works made in the patchwork technique will be exhibited at three venues: in the exhibition halls of the Regional Museum of Local Lore, at the Vitebsk Regional Methodical Centre of Folk Art, and in the Ilya Repin Museum-Estate "Zdravnevo".

Participants of the regional festival-competition will include folk masters from the regions of the oblast, students of Vitebsk universities and colleges, as well as creative teams of masters from the Polotsk Centre of Crafts and National Cultures and the Polotsk folk patchwork club "Roshva".

The summing up of results and awarding of prizes to the winners of the patchwork competition will take place on 20 September. On this day, there will be exhibition presentations, master classes and round tables; a theatrical performance and an excursion to Repin's house-museum with presentations of Belarusian national cuisine clubs and performances by folk music ensembles.

The regional festival-competition of patchwork "Zdravnevo Palette" is held with the aim of developing folk artistic traditions in decorative and applied arts, enriching national patchwork traditions with modern art trends, fostering interest in the artistic heritage of I.E. Repin, and developing and strengthening interethnic and international relations, business, cultural and creative ties.

The organisers of the festival-competition are the Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, the State Cultural Institution "Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore", the State Institution "Vitebsk Regional Methodical Centre of Folk Art", and the Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Polotsk City Executive Committee.-0-
