According to the Hunting Rules: 91. Criteria for classifying game animals as trophy and (or) selective are established for the following species of game animals: elk, red deer, roe deer, fallow deer, sika deer, mouflon, wild boar, European bison (reserve gene pool).

92. Trophy animals include: adult male elk with antlers of a typical spade-shaped, branched, or transitional form with three or more tines on each antler; adult male red deer and sika deer with antlers of a typical form with four or more tines on each antler, including the first (supranasal) tine and the middle (subcoronal) tine; adult male roe deer with antlers of a typical form longer than their ears with three or more tines on each antler; adult male fallow deer with antlers of a typical form with four or more tines on each antler, including the first (supranasal) tine and the middle tine; adult male wild boar with visible (protruding from the jaw) lower tusks of 5 centimetres or more; adult European bison (reserve gene pool) and mouflon with developed antlers of a typical form.
93. Game animals exhibiting the characteristics listed in paragraph 92 of these Rules are classified as trophy animals, regardless of whether they possess selective characteristics.
94. Selective animals include: game animals of any sex and age exhibiting clearly pronounced musculoskeletal disorders due to injuries or mutilations (the animal limps, drags its limbs, has impaired coordination of movement); game animals with clear signs of disease and (or) emaciation (the animal is characterised by slow movement, passivity, coughing, sagging hindquarters, hunched posture); European bison calves (reserve gene pool) born from October to December inclusive; game animals exhibiting signs of a clearly delayed moult (with winter fur on the flanks and rump in July, or with summer fur on the flanks and belly in December). In cases where a female with offspring is subject to selective culling according to the criteria specified in the first part of this paragraph, the offspring shall be subject to selective culling as a priority.
