On September 26, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. An attempt to smuggle a batch of clothing and footwear was thwarted at the border with Latvia, Denis Glebko, assistant head of the Polotsk Border Guard Detachment, told a BELTA correspondent. In the evening of September 25, at the Bigosovo station in the Verkhnedvinsk district, servicemen of the Polotsk Border Guard Detachment, together with customs representatives, discovered 27 bales of clothing and footwear, weighing over 400 kg in total, hidden from customs clearance in the ventilation shafts of a locomotive in a freight train that arrived from the Republic of Latvia. An investigation is underway regarding this fact. Currently, customs services are opening the bales, counting and assessing the goods. According to Denis Glebko, this work may take several days. -0-
