3 August, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A large ammunition cache has been neutralized in the Vitebsk district, the press group of the KGB Directorate for the Vitebsk Region informed a BELTA correspondent. During the "Arsenal" operation, based on operational information received by the KGB Directorate for the Vitebsk Region, specialists from the sapper-pyrotechnic group of military unit 5524 found a cache of ammunition from the Great Patriotic War era in a forest near the village of Poloiniki, Vitebsk district. 171 munitions were found in the ground, including 146 mortar mines of 82 mm calibre, 1 mortar mine of 120 mm calibre, 1 artillery shell of 76 mm calibre, 21 rifle grenades, and 1 RGD-33 grenade. The munitions were transported to a training ground and destroyed. Their total weight in TNT equivalent was approximately 75 kg. In total, since the beginning of the year, employees of the KGB Directorate for the Vitebsk Region, together with specialists from military unit 5524, have seized and destroyed over 310 kg of ammunition in TNT equivalent.
