The exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble will not undergo significant changes in the near future and in the first quarter of 2011 in relation to the currency basket. This forecast was made in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent by Nadezhda Ermakova, Chairperson of the Board of OJSC "ASB Belarusbank". She took part in the unified information day "Belarus - a Social State: Key Development Results in 2006-2010" in Vitebsk. "The currency basket, which includes the euro, dollar, and Russian ruble, will not change for now. In the first quarter of 2011, it will also remain the same. The state of the Belarusian economy allows us to be confident in this," believes Nadezhda Ermakova. The exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble against the currencies of other countries is dictated by the global financial system: there is a constant struggle between the dollar and the euro on the exchanges, which is beneficial for players. According to the Chairperson of the Board of Belarusbank, the currency basket will soon be supplemented with the Chinese yuan, which will make it more independent. As Nadezhda Ermakova noted, the sharp change in the exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble against the currency basket, which occurred at the beginning of 2009, was due to the requirements of the International Monetary Fund. Currently, the IMF is only monitoring the processes taking place in the country's financial system. The country's gold and foreign exchange reserves are secured by exports.-0-
