What can cause estrangement between the closest people? How can a father and daughter find a compromise when resolving a housing issue?
These are the questions that an ordinary Lepel family has been pondering lately, as dangerous and frightening conflicts arose during the division of rooms, requiring law enforcement intervention for resolution.
Thus, one evening, during another dispute over room division, the head of the family, in a fit of serious anger, began to drive his daughter and her husband out of the house. The enraged father was holding a knife, and nothing would have come of it if the father had not uttered verbal threats of murder against his son-in-law and pointed the knife blade towards the victim's torso at close range, while also threatening to kill him.
Fleeing from the angered father, the young man had to run out into the street on a February evening without shoes or outerwear. Fearing to re-enter the house, the couple had to wait for police officers outside, while the father, having vented his anger, calmly left for a friend's place.
With these actions, a resident of Lepel, P., committed a crime stipulated by Article 186 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, namely, the threat of murder or grievous bodily harm, if there were grounds to fear its execution. The court of Lepel District sentenced him to a penalty in the form of restriction of liberty without direction to an open-type correctional institution.
The housing issue can not only ruin family relationships but also lead to the defendant's bench.
