The Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic Society hosted the award ceremony for the laureates of the regional stage of the republican competition "Woman of the Year - 2020" today.
Women from all districts of the region participated in the regional stage. As a result, 30 residents of the region were recognised in six nominations: "Successful Leader", "Active Life Stance", "Maternal Glory", "Mistress of the Village", "My Heart Belongs to People", and "Spirituality and Culture".
"The competition features women working in various sectors – healthcare, education, culture, social services, and others. They are all dedicated to the women's movement and participate in the life of the Belarusian Women's Union. In the Vitebsk region, this public organisation unites 14.5 thousand representatives of the fair sex," said Elena Martynova, Chairperson of the regional organisation of the BWS.

Among the awardees is Elena Myadelets, Director of the Glubokoye Historical and Ethnographic Museum. She is convinced that if you love your work, success is guaranteed. "I always go to work with pleasure and know that the day will be filled with discoveries, acquaintances, and the search for something new. We strive to create new forms of work with people and the younger generation at the museum, because a traditional excursion is probably no longer as interesting and relevant. That's why we have now implemented a virtual tour project of the historical and cultural heritage of the Glubokoye district using VR technology," said the museum director, emphasizing the importance of knowing the history of one's small homeland.
According to Elena Myadelets, her institution is staffed by an excellent team of like-minded individuals who are passionate about history and understand each other implicitly. "Nothing would have been achieved without the team, including reaching the regional stage of the 'Woman of the Year' competition. Our current plans include creating a tour of the lesser-known corners of Glubochyna," said the museum director.
The nominees are confident that women can achieve self-realisation in any field. The main thing is to have a passion for the profession or a hobby.
