The laureates of the honorary title "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region" for 2018 will be honored today at a gala concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the BSSR, BELTA was informed by the regional executive committee.
The laureate title has been awarded to 50 representatives of various fields of activity, who have been selected in five nominations. The professional achievements of the best representatives of work collectives, organizations, and institutions of the cities and districts of the region are recognized in the nominations: "Industry, Trade and Services, Financial Activities, Small and Medium-sized Businesses", "Agro-industrial Complex, Environmental Protection, Forestry", "Housing and Communal Services and Road Management, Construction and Architecture, Fuel and Energy Complex, Communications, Transport and Logistics", "Social Sphere (Social Protection of the Population, Culture, Education, Science, Sports, Healthcare, Youth)", "Ensuring Legality and Law and Order, Prevention and Elimination of Emergencies, Activities of Local Government and Self-Government Bodies, Public Organizations".
The main criteria for awarding the honorary title include production performance, professional and business qualities, as well as the significance, relevance, and effectiveness of the results achieved. Candidates for the award are determined based on the results of work throughout the year. This year, the prestigious award has been presented to Dmitry Daschenok, an electric and gas welder at Naftan OJSC, who won a republican professional competition; Natalia Kuksova, head of the Trade House in Polotsk, which was included in the Honour Roll in 2018; Anna Norkus, General Director of Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Factory, for significant achievements in the enterprise's activities; Nikolaindersky, a thoracic surgeon at Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital, for the implementation of advanced technologies; and Georgy Korenko, Deputy Prosecutor of Vitebsk Region, for high professionalism and conscientious performance of duties. For conscientious labour, professionalism, and high achievements, awards were granted to Lyudmila Shkurdina and Galina Tyabut, employees of the territorial centres for social services for the population of Dubrovensky and Polotsky districts; Ilya Shendalesov, chief physician of Lepel Central District Hospital; Petr Shershen, General Director of UP Vitebskoblgaz; Sergey Belousov, a boiler and heat network section foreman at the production enterprise "Borovka" (Lepel); Tatyana Pavlova, a vegetable grower at the "Teplichny" branch of the "Vitebskenergo" enterprise, and other worthy workers of the region.
The competition in Vitebsk Region has been held since 2009 with the aim of stimulating creative work and promoting innovative ideas and best practices. It is designed to highlight the value of the merits and achievements of the region's residents and their contribution to the development of the region. The honorary title "Person of the Year of Vitebsk Region" has already been awarded to 950 people.
