An athletics cross-country race dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Vitebsk Regional Trade Union Association and the Year of Small Motherland will bring together over 1,000 participants in Vitebsk today, the regional trade union association informed a BELTA correspondent.
An athletics cross-country race dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Vitebsk Regional Trade Union Association and the Year of Small Motherland will bring together over 1,000 participants in Vitebsk today, the regional trade union association informed a BELTA correspondent.
The event will be held in the floodplains of the Vitba River. It is expected that over 1,000 employees of industry trade unions, primary trade union organisations of enterprises and organisations of the Vitebsk region, student athletes of the Vitebsk Sports Club of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, and the Children and Youth Sports School of the primary organisation of OJSC "Naftan" of Belkhimprofsoyuz will take part in the race. Depending on their age, participants will have to run 500 m or 1 km.
"The main goal of the cross-country race is to promote a healthy lifestyle, and to enhance physical culture and recreational activities within work collectives. It remains important for us to attract working people to systematic physical training and to establish sports connections among trade union organisations," the regional trade union association noted.
Winners of the races will be determined in individual standings across 11 age groups for women and men. The best runners will be awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.
The athletics cross-country race was organised by the Vitebsk Regional Trade Union Association in conjunction with the regional sports club of the FTUB and OJSC "Naftan" of Belkhimprofsoyuz.
