The ten-day campaign to improve the life safety of citizens in the Lepel district has concluded with weekend work. As part of the campaign, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) and healthcare, as well as law enforcement officers, visited over 300 households and apartments inhabited by individuals registered for preventive measures due to offences committed under the influence of alcohol, unemployed individuals and those abusing alcoholic beverages, as well as cohabitants and dependants of citizens who have reached retirement age.
On the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, the work was focused in the town of Lepel, as the majority of the aforementioned households are located within the town limits.
During household visits, rescuers reminded citizens of the dangers of smoking in bed, the necessity of equipping residential rooms in households with autonomous fire alarms, and provided examples of people they had rescued. Healthcare workers conducted discussions on the harmful effects of alcohol and smoking, and Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) officers reminded individuals of their responsibility for committing crimes and offences while intoxicated.
During the raid activities, attention was also paid to the fire hazard period. Many citizens were in their yards tidying up and burning rubbish. MES employees reminded them that burning dry vegetation is prohibited, and bonfires must be made in designated areas under supervision and with the mandatory presence of primary firefighting equipment.
Upon completion of the discussions, all homeowners were presented with visual aids and given recommendations on bringing their households into a fire-safe condition.
