As part of the preventive campaign "Thin Ice" and aiming to prevent accidents and fatalities on water bodies, employees of the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations, together with a correspondent from the district newspaper "Lepelsky Krai" and a representative of the water rescue society, conducted a preventive raid on winter fishing spots.

When interacting with ice fishing enthusiasts, particular attention was paid to the mandatory presence of life jackets and portable rescue equipment. All fishermen were informed of the sad facts of people's deaths due to carelessness and overconfidence, reminded of the basic safety measures on ice, the procedure for actions in case of an emergency, methods of rescue from water, and elements of first aid.

In turn, the representative of the water rescue organization drew attention to the fact that the brave fish enthusiasts do not even have basic rescue equipment with them. After talking to everyone encountered on the water bodies, one could hear in response: "Nothing will happen to me, I go out on the ice every year, in any weather!".

Therefore, to prevent trouble, the representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations once again reminded that safety measures must be observed, before going out on the ice, one must make sure that it is sufficiently strong and, most importantly, have rescue equipment for ice with them.
