During the inspection of households, particular attention was paid to the condition of stove heating and chimneys in attic spaces.
"Stoves and electric heaters pose a significant danger to households during the autumn-winter period. To prevent fires, stoves and chimneys, at the points where they connect with wooden attic or interfloor ceilings, must have a thickened brickwork – a firebreak. Any stove must have its own foundation and not be directly adjacent to wooden structures. An air gap – a setback – should be left between them. On the floor in front of the firebox, there must be an undamaged hearth mat measuring at least 50x70 cm made of non-combustible material. Access to the stove from the firebox door side must be clear. Furniture should be placed at a distance of no less than 70 cm from the stove, and at least 125 cm from the firebox openings. Furthermore, it is forbidden to operate stoves with open firebox doors, to dry clothes and firewood on them, or to stack and place various flammable materials near them. It should be remembered that prolonged stove operation leads to overheating of its individual parts. Therefore, it is recommended to operate it no more than 2-3 times a day for 1-1.5 hours. Stove operation must cease three hours before bedtime" – employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed the residents about all these points.
Household owners whose homes had violations identified were given recommendations for their prompt elimination.
