In order to eliminate these causes of fire, employees of the Lepel unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as part of district services and enterprises, conducted scheduled raids to inspect dormitories located in the town of Lepel.
In order to verify compliance with fire safety regulations and rules, the participants of the raid group assessed the fire safety status of the facilities, the adherence to elementary safety rules by dormitory residents, and their knowledge of actions in case of fire.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations employee also paid attention to the condition of common areas and emphasised that they must be kept clean. Obstruction of evacuation routes, storage of hazardous substances and materials are not permitted, and all waste must be promptly removed from the building premises, as all of this contributes to the rapid spread of fire and hinders the evacuation of people in case of fire.
In order to avoid fire hazardous situations, a representative of the 101 service reminded residents of the prohibition of smoking in rooms and dormitory corridors, the use of faulty electrical appliances, and the installation of non-opening metal grilles.
As a result of the raid, a number of safety requirement violations were identified, many of which were rectified on the spot, while others will be rectified in the near future.
