Festive events in Lepel district commenced with the grand opening of the Memorial Sign to cadets and commanders of the Lepel Infantry and Lepel Mortar Schools in Borovka.

In the pre-war period, 2 military schools were established in the territory of Lepel district: the Lepel Infantry School (Borovka settlement) and the Lepel Mortar School (116th km).
