Medical workers, infectious disease specialists, and epidemiologists from all regions of the Vitebsk region gathered at the Lepel Central District Hospital to practice the skills required for carrying out necessary anti-epidemic measures.
"A patient presented to the emergency services complaining of weakness, vomiting, and frequent bowel movements. A couple of days prior to feeling unwell, the woman had returned from a holiday in India. After studying the symptoms and thoroughly examining the patient, specialists made a preliminary diagnosis: cholera – an acute infectious disease with a high rate of spread. An alarm was immediately raised at the hospital. Fortunately, it was a drill."
Upon arrival, the patient was placed in an isolation ward for highly dangerous infections, where necessary tests were taken. Thanks to the prompt actions of the doctors and the organised interaction of the relevant city services, all tasks were completed efficiently and swiftly.
Lepel hosted regional training exercises on the localization and elimination of a cholera outbreak.
