A resident of Lepel faces up to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking

In early September 2025, a resident of Lepel was looking for ways to earn extra income online. Having found what he was looking for, the 39-year-old man fell for the prospect of high earnings. The Lepel resident did not consider the consequences, which he now bitterly regrets.

“The accused communicated via the Telegram messenger with the curator of an online store selling narcotic drugs,” said Pavel Sukhov, Deputy Prosecutor of Vitebsk District. “The Lepel resident’s duties, among other things, included carrying out operators’ instructions, ensuring security measures, as well as acquiring narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, their packaging, storage, transportation, and distribution.”

Law enforcement officers became aware of the illegal business, which had been ongoing for about three weeks.

“During a personal search of the man, as well as the inspection of his place of residence and over 33 hiding places, law enforcement officers discovered and seized a psychotropic substance with a total mass of 1696.21 g,” reported Pavel Sukhov.

The Prosecutor's Office of Vitebsk District has sent a criminal case to court. The Lepel resident is charged with illegal acquisition, storage, and transportation for the purpose of sale, and illegal sale of particularly dangerous psychotropic substances in a large quantity, committed by an organized group.

The man faces up to 20 years of imprisonment with a fine.
