Today, Lepel District is hosting guests – an on-site meeting of the standing commission of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies of the twenty-ninth convocation on social affairs and youth is taking place at the District Executive Committee.

The meeting was attended by Dmitry Demidov, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Igor Lyakhov, Chairman of the Smolensk Regional Duma, Snezhana Titova, Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies for Social Affairs and Youth, Mikhail Vishnevetsky, Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, representatives of the deputy corps of the district, region, and neighboring country - Russia.

The esteemed guests were welcomed, as is customary, with a fragrant loaf of bread and wished fruitful work on the Lepel land.

The social sphere of the Vitebsk region and its opportunities for cooperation, the development of healthcare in the northern region, and the tourist potential of Lepelshchina - these issues were key at the meeting today.

The speakers spoke about the region's achievements in this area, outlined new projects in various directions, and noted the confident and high-quality development of the region in terms of healthcare and tourism.

Members of the Standing Commission of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies of the twenty-ninth convocation for Social Affairs and Youth visited the new Sports and Recreation Complex with a swimming pool today.

Elena Skorbo, Head of the Sports and Tourism Sector of the District Executive Committee, spoke about the range of services, attendance, and the importance of the centre for our district.

The attendees were shown the adult swimming pool with three lanes, and the children's pool, 10 metres long, where even toddlers up to six years old can participate in water activities.

It was noted that the Sports and Recreation Complex also has a popular swimming section for children of various ages.

The sauna with a plunge pool and the gym with exercise equipment, used by weightlifters, the massage room, and the cosy cafe were also not overlooked.

The guests noted that they were impressed by the new Sports and Recreation Complex, which meets the most modern requirements.

How beautifully, grandly, heartily, and joyfully Lepelshchina knows how to welcome guests was evident today from the visit of the deputies to the "Zhemchuzhina" (Pearl) centre.

We remind you that it is in this health resort of the northern region that children from the Donetsk People's Republic have arrived for recuperation these days.

What surprises, entertains and heals the Pearl for the children from the DPR, the guests learned during an excursion to the centre.

The director of the health resort, Vera Zakrevskaya, guided the representatives of the authorities and the deputy corps through the floors, where she presented the unique experience of the sanatorium's work with children.

It should be noted that the children from the DPR arrived in the Lepel region as part of the humanitarian project "Childhood Without War for Children", initiated by the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, the Smolensk Regional Duma and the Republican Public Association "Belaya Rus".

The most fun, touching and long-awaited moments awaited all participants of the meeting ahead. A bright performance was organised for the children from the Donetsk People's Republic.

Every child felt at the centre of a magical celebration. A celebration that was kind, peaceful and happy. Together with representatives of the authorities and deputies, the children forgot about all their difficulties. They felt only one thing – joy, peace, care, security and support.

Of course, there were surprises – warm words of congratulations on the upcoming New Year were addressed to the children, and gifts were presented.
